how hard is it to level dragoon?`

I am a blm taru on gilgamesh and i am thinking of becoming a Drg/whm. I think id be a fun combo but im just curious about a few things.

-How hard is it for a Dragoon to find parties up to lvl 60?

- Are they a pain in the ass "die alot" job or are they alotta fun to play

-Does the wyvern make the game more fun?

-last but not least, can Dragoons level at a good pace, without dying and wanting to throw the computer off a cliff.

I just want to play a fun job its hard to find out what is fun, but i like being in parties because its exciting, i also think having a wyvern around is a cool idea, but if its too much of a pain i dont want to do it, and id rather go twoards summoner, but i dont want to wait to lvl 60 to get the other summons. I dont know what job to pick i jus want to have fun with the game, and i love cool visual effects. i couldnt be a warrior for that reason, not visually exciting enough for me. im sorry if this is confusing, i would appreciate anyone awnsering any of the questions i have posted, thank u

Dragoon is an amazing class, extreamly fun. I'm a little byased though, I love dragoons so, you know. I got nine levels in a few hours, with your wyvern it makes it much easier to take on the harder monsters. I have only died once and that was because we took on more than we can chew. Dying is always an issue with any class, Dragoon is not a tank class, they are specificly for Dealing damage, Jump abilty is amazing! The Wyvern is an extreamly good freind, just keep in mind it's your two hour ability, so as long as you stay in the same area, or go area to area with him, you'll be just fine. The difference for classes is that the Dragoon stats are a bit lower than say a warrior and such, and the Wyvern fills that gap. Parties look for the exoctic classes, if they want a damage dealer they will want you, and may people will want to join your party if you start it. I hope this answers your questions. I am loving DRG so far, at level 29. Enjoying it much more than I did SAM.

At the very least, DRG is more fun than SAM up to 30. Before 30, SAM plays almost exactly like a WAR, whereas with DRG, you'll have your wyvern plus one jump attack.

The funny thing is, I'm still able to tank reasonably well as of level 29. I assume this will change eventually.

I was in a PT last night in Battalia where the only two vokers were another DRG and I. We did very well, with little downtime against IT goblins.

I love my drg class so far, oly 12 but i can relate to my monk 30, war 16 rdm 11. It is pretty easy to solo those first level and get amazing exp (best ever was 147 around lev 7 and 140 at level 11). If you wana do T mob, you need to build your TP and you rdy to go as your Wyvern will deliver a nice blast of dmg after you. Building TP is pretty easy (Elvaa here) and deliver it make big dmg. You can tank but not aas good as other class.

In your case (Blm), you will only have a healing breath effect from Wyvern, so the effectiveness might be less. Neverless, the melee attack he provide is pretty good. I think the worst enemy for your wyvern are the AE dmg mob, it hurt your little friend badly.

There one think i learn about this game, if you don't follow the usual template for your Job/sub, you will have a harder time later to find group. If you provide half the dmg/support someone else can give, peoples will pass on you when they forming group. Not mentioning the time you loose questing/exping a class that later you may ditch because you not happy with it. Think longer before you start investing time, if you feel good with it go ahead and have fun.

Kind of off-topic but i joined a level 18 Elvaan DRG/WHM in Shakhrami and he was able to solo MM by himself, i was doing little damage. We were still able to get over 100+ exp each mm and rest every 2-3 mm.

All I can say is, have alot of fun LFG from levels 40-49. I suggest a good book or something. :/

Thank you very much, i appreciate the replies, it has helped me greatly, i am a black mage however, and i want to make it my subjob wen i hit 15, but i want to level a new job to 30, then change to either a dragoon or ninja. I was thinking redmage, because then i could be an elemental fighter as a ninja, but now that i see the fun a dragoon can be, i dont know what i want to have as my subjob, should i be a WAR to lvl 30? i want to be a tarutaru, and im not changing that, but i just need to figure out what job to level to 30.

A Dragoon/Red Mage isn't a bad idea, now Dragoon isn't the best class for subing with magic, but it really goes with what you want to do with that character. I think it's a good idea, it'll be different from most other dragoons out there, if that's what you are going for. Dragoon/warrior, most common is nice and does the damage and can take the damage.

all jobs except bard are hard to get pick up PT's after 40 I've noticed. Dragoon is "just another attacker" in many peoples books, and people think whm will be rare, so everyone makes one.. which results in a flood of whm (on my server anyways).

it's best to have a set party with friends.

O man you have a flood of WHM on your server... i want ; ;... i was leveling thief yesterday in tahrongi at level 10 and i was with a 11 dragoon and she was flippen amazing, the only use i had in the party was to poison sting the dhalmels cuz i was so weak compared to her. Im so going dragoon/war at 30.

There's like a plethora of Dragoons coming out on Pandemonium. Everywhere you see Raidens flying around blocking your path. It's horrible.

No shortage on WHMs though :O There *is* however a shortage of Paladins at high levels (Hm, 56-60 ish)

Even as a Bard, its hard to get a PT -_-;
Its the lack of players that affect this the most. Job don't really matter unless theres a large amount looking for a PT.

I got DRG and leveled it to 10 in absolutley no time at all. The wyvern is very helpful (I could solo tough mobs by myself with his help) and the damage is very nice (accept the missing part)! The only down side is that when your wyvern dies you can feel the effect of it. I have found that losing your wyvern SUCKS at least at my level.

I just got my DRG and was so friggen happy. I've wanted this job forever. Lumiere and I got to lvl 7 in practically no time. Like 13 said, I can solo toughs, destroy evens, and plow through decents in no time. I was leaving a wave of dead mandragoras in E. Sarutabaruta. But there is a problem with lvling any job. There are just too many people in this game that have no idea what they are doing. I've been in parties where the WHM acted as a WAR and engaged the monster on the front line. Some people just don't know anything about the other jobs or main/sub job combos. I try to go out of my way to learn about other jobs strengths and weaknesses. And apparently people like me are very few. I even remember once in Qufim when I was a lvl 23 WAR the leader made the DRG the tank! THE DRG! We even had a friggen PLD in the party but he just acted like another melee. Needless to say I got my lvl and "Had to help some friends" I just hope people learn and realize things. And if you see someone do something wrong, tell them. How ele will they learn?
